Welcome
to the all new Clyde Valley Flyers web site
Clyde
Valley Flyers is a model aircraft club based in Renfrewshire,
Scotland. Many of our members live in Paisley and surrounding
areas, you will often find a few of us in Paisley Model Centre
which is our local model shop. We fly all manner of radio
control aircraft from gliders to jet powered
airplanes and helicopters, we also fly control line airplanes
and a even a big kite!
Our membership includes a full range of ages, from the 'very
young' right through to the 'not so very young' both male
and female. Skill levels vary from the 'Extremely talented'
right down to the likes of me!
For
anyone new to the hobby we have a very talented instructor
who will help you learn to fly. We also have a club trainer
airplane which you can use to get a feel for the hobby before
going out and spending hard earned cash on an airplane of
your own. The members of the club collectively have a vast
knowledge of all aspects of model flying and building and
will be more than happy to assist newcomers and the more
experienced flyers with any problems they may encounter.
Membership of Clyde Valley Flyers is very reasonably priced,
the 2008 annual rates are: adult membership £35 plus
SAA insurance at £27. All new memberships will also
incur a one off joining fee of £15. For your annual
subscription you will have unlimited access to our flying
field (excluding some No Flying Dates published in our forum
calendar) between
dawn and dusk, night time flying is not permitted due to
restrictions from Glasgow Airport Air Traffic Control. We
have a club hut at the field with facilities for making hot
drinks and food, and members often while away a few hours
after a days flying discussing the finer points of model
aircraft flying or dreaming up ever more elaborate methods
of mole eradication!
If you would like to join, check out the Application
Page for more details and to download the application pack.
For anyone intending to visit us at the flying field please
read the Constitution, Bylaws
& Legal and Training pages, especially
if you are already a proficient pilot and would like to
fly from our strip. We would also advise you to Contact
us before turning up at the field
so that we can make sure there will be someone there to assist.
Please feel free to browse the rest of the site, and if you
require any further information don't hesitate to contact
us with your query.
Using the site should be as simple
as it gets, navigation is via the menu on the left. Some
pages such as the forums and gallery will open in a new window
for your convenience.
I would appreciate any feedback on the site, let me
know what you want adding, removing, changing, fixing. Without
feedback from the users of the site I will have NO IDEA what
you all want from it.
I would like to request assistance from anyone
using a browser other than internet explorer 7, I do not
have any other browsers installed so have no idea if the
site looks right with other browsers.
